NeuroDevelopmental Solutions offers comprehensive assessment and intervention services for children and adolescents from a neurodevelopmental/psychoeducational perspective. This approach seeks to isolate specific causes of learning and behavioral challenges so that individualized treatment plans can be developed. Professionals with expertise in psychology, child development, and educational systems conduct assessments and assist families and educators with formulating and implementing intervention plans. School consultative services are available. Some direct intervention and therapeutic services are offered including individualized tutoring and ADHD coaching (personalized sessions to teach strategies to enhance attention and organizational skills). Workshops and parent seminars are also presented periodically.
Problems with learning and attention are addressed through in-depth examination of 8 neurodevelopmental constructs. These include sensory and motor functions, attention, language, visual-spatial processes, memory, and executive functions (i.e., organization and planning). Each of these domains is considered with respect to different sensory modalities (i.e., auditory versus visual) and "subprocesses" (e.g., various aspects of attention or types of memory). The academic content areas of reading, writing, and math are evaluated. The impact of social-emotional factors is also taken into account. The result is a detailed profile that pinpoints where learning is breaking down so that student strengths can be used to help overcome weaknesses.
Behavioral challenges are approached primarily through applied behavior analytic (ABA) techniques that directly link assessment to intervention strategies. Since such assessment is best done in natural settings, school (and in some cases home) consultation is available.
We collaborate with educational and medical professionals to help students maximize their potential. We provide tutoring, counseling, and therapies to enhance academic and interpersonal success.
